the necessity to understand
The call of the void refers to impulses... It's visually depicted as the high place phenomenon where a person on a ledge is looking down to an unknown void that draws them in. It's the idea that the existence of the void in itself calls one to jump into it, even if one doesn't really want to: it's the placement of curiosity above comfort. For this space, the void lures me because my mind wants (and sometimes I think it needs) to throw itself into the void without knowing if it will lead to more confusion or further enlightenment.
I don't pretend to consume information all of the time or more than any other person, nor do I think that I have the absolute truth over any subject (of course not, I don't even think the absolute exists). Nevertheless, I do think that my hunger for knowledge gives me the privilege of understanding; the idea of awareness pulls me in to study and learn about different topics and ideals, be it social or political theories or historical events. My personal need to understand comes from the desire to know myself, or at least know how 1 am perceived, and also know the other, or at least how they are perceived. I have fortunately studied a lot, and enjoyed it, so 1 want to use this space to share my thoughts for myself mainly, and for anyone who might stumble upon it.
